Food Boxes

Koordak Food Box Service is a program that provides access to fresh and healthy food to our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community. The service is provided in collaboration with SecondBite, a non-profit organisation that seeks to reduce food waste and improve food access across Australia.

Koordak Food Boxes involve collecting the food boxes from the warehouse, and delivering to Koordak Centre for community members to collect, or deliver to families in the area in need. The food boxes contain a range of fresh and healthy food items, including fruits and vegetables, dairy products, meats, and grains. The contents of the food boxes vary depending on seasonal availability and the needs of the families receiving them.

One of the key features of the Food Boxes is our collaboration with SecondBite. SecondBite works with food retailers and suppliers to collect surplus food that would otherwise go to waste, and redistributes this food to organisations and programs that support people in need. By collaborating with SecondBite, Koordak is able to quality, fresh, and healthy food to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Families who may be experiencing food insecurity or limited access to healthy food options.

Koordak Food Box Service is an important program that addresses a key issue faced by many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People in our community.
